About

Howdy – I’m Brandon Mordas and I want to live 1,000 lifetimes before I die. I’m obsessed with living the best life possible and research ways to better myself daily. Improvement is hard. On my life journey, I have experienced many failures and successes. I formed Escape the Screen(s) to share my (and other’s) learnings with you.

We understand the irony of reading an “About” page around escaping the screens, on a screen. We landed on this name because every time we’re in public, people are staring at their phones. We aren’t convinced this is the path to the best life. The idea isn’t to shun technology; this site is run on it. Instead, ask how do we use it to enhance our life’s journey, not distract.

Admittedly, we cover a ton of topics because we have way too much rummaging around in our heads. This is because we believe success in life requires a broad range of skills, knowledge, and the drive for action. Past posts and lists of categories can be found in the Archives.

Goal

Our goal is to help focus. Screen time, by definition, is neutral. We want to help turn it positive by taking thought-provoking topics and provide them in digestible summaries for further consideration.

Quotes

We are always looking for topics and discussions. There have been people (many who are more qualified) who have said it better. We will always start with a quote.

Content

The goal is to provide condensed posts on a topic. Due to shrinking attention spans, these will be short and aimed at whetting your philosophical appetite. They are meant for opening a discussion within you to carry on throughout the week.

Actions

Actions are the cause of all forward progress. Even an action which results in failure is a learning opportunity. Result – forward progress. There will always be action items.

Sources

As much as we love our own insight, this is not enough. After our summaries, we will include “further reading” sections should you want to take a deeper dive. We love facts, so many of these will be studies.

Posting

Unfortunately, companies have invested heavily in dopamine-driven content. Our goal is to highlight a topic for discussion and consideration over the course of a week. Our posting schedule will reflect this.
